POCKETCON


Pocket Con is a free daily congress for Chicago youth and has partnered with the Chicago Public Library and LoKari Productions. It focuses on the work of colorful artists, especially African-American writers and artists, as well as comics with black figures. Pocket Con has also worked in fun genres from other small groups such as Women, Latin, LGBT and other minorities. We have strong confidence in indie comics and publishing, and hope the zine authors participate in the form of appropriate expression and interest, such as web printing, animation, small budget filmmaking, video game design and more.

Our mission at this event is to promote literacy in a novel graphic format, to reflect the history of racial and sexual descriptions in comics and films, and to introduce characters, writers and writers who have a different voice from men, mostly white. Direct characters (especially white, straight and male) are written by comic writers. At the same time, we want to empower young writers and artists by presenting them as a collaborative process that creates comics and encourages them to produce and submit their own work in the contest.

This congress includes a "Builder Room," which gives teens the opportunity to experiment in a variety of environments, from laser vinyl labels to cartons and skin masks to 3D printing.

I never saw. How does it work?
In many cases, this only happens briefly. In a meeting (brief for Congress) several things often happen at the same time. You can learn to draw a comic or hear a conversation about the history of the competition in a comic. Each activity will be in a separate area. You choose what you want to do, but sometimes there are restrictions on how many people can sign up for a particular activity.

The hall will also have a table for events and salesmen. You can spend time shopping or trying a short action on the table.

How much does it cost?
Pocket Con is completely free. However, some activities / interviews may be best suited for teens and adults, and they will be enrolled in the program in this way. We ask children under 10 years in the adult company.
